Eddie and the Rainbird

It didn’t take long before Eddie arrived in the next bay. He parked the motorbike and walked up and down along the sand dunes. He saw lots of rocks and little waves, but there were no big trees where the rainbird might be resting.

Eddie couldn’t believe that he’d come all this way for nothing! He would have to go back home, and get into trouble from Mum and Dad, without even finding the rainbird.

He felt really miserable. He picked up a pebble from the sand and threw it into the incoming wave. That was when he noticed a small rocky island a little way offshore, and on that island were lots of tall trees.

“WOW!” yelled Eddie. “That’s got to be the place where the rainbird lives. But how am I going to get there?”

Bobbing gently at the edge of the water was a sleek red jetski.  Eddie thought: “I can’t stop now. I’m so close. Everyone will understand when the rainbird makes it rain.”

He took off his shoes and paddled out to the jetski, jumped on and KAZING! his racing leathers instantly turned into a proper wetsuit. Eddie smiled and started up the jetski.
