Oscar and Grandpa’s Motorboat
They chugged past a noisy front-end loader that was going up and down the shoreline. It wasmoving piles of sand and carrying heavy rocks to the water’s edge.
“What are they doing, Grandpa?” Oscar asked.
“They’re making a wall to keep the beach safe from big tides,” said Grandpa.
“Brumm, brumm,” went the front-end loader.

Oscar waved as they passed a fishing trawler and the fishermen waved back.
The men were cleaning some fish they had caught at the back of the boat. They were being followed by dozens of swooping seagulls hoping for a snack.
Oscar laughed to see them diving for the scraps the fishermen threw to them.
“Caw, caw!” went the seagulls as they flew overhead.
